Glamorous Georgians is an exciting event for Festival of Museums 2017. Culzean Castle and Country Park, Robert Burns Birthplace Museums and Rozelle House Museums and Galleries are celebrating 18th Century Ayrshire through costume, song, cooking and much more. Our special Festival of Museums Glamorous Georgians bus will link all three South Ayrshire sites, so buy your ticket and hop on to travel back in time!
Rozelle House Museum and Galleries:
Meet the Georgians at Rozelle, through tours led by characters in costume who will guide you through the original Georgian mansion built in 1759. Come and see the famous paintings, objects and curious held within South Ayrshire Council's collections.
Head along to Burns Cottage to take a selfie in out (not so) authentic photo booth, complete with green screen and Georgian props box. Keep a look out for performances of Burns's works, guided site tours, storytelling, children's crafts and much more.
Georgians were full of intellectual curiosity and discovery, not least in relation to food. Join historical interpreter Kathy Hipperson as she investigates some extravagant dishes, suitable for any 18th Century table. Using a variety of flavours and colours there will be layered jellies, fruit jelling and jellies that don't look like jellies at all!
To make travelling easy, buses will run between the three sites and Ayr town centre. Spaces are limited and only available to those who have purchased tickets which include use of the bus/ Tickets without use of the bus are also available.
