We’re delighted to be able to reopen The Georgian House and to welcome visitors once again.
The safety and wellbeing of our visitors, staff and volunteers is our priority. In order to ensure that you have a safe and enjoyable visit we have introduced some new measures to the Georgian House. Below you can find an outline of what you can expect before and during your visit with us.
Before your visit
We’re introducing an advance booking system to allow us to manage visitor numbers and pinch points within the house. We’ll be operating a one-way system and our gift shop will be open.
Please note: if you do not pre-book, we cannot guarantee entry to the property and you may be turned away. Due to the size of our property we will cap ticket numbers each day so please book in advance to avoid disappointment. No more than eight people will be permitted per half hour time slot. In accordance with government guidelines, booking groups should contain no more than three household groups.
The Georgian House will be open from Thursday 10 September 2020 (Thursday–Monday from 10am–4pm (last admission 3pm). There will be no access to the property outwith these opening times, and we will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Member entry will be free; however, you must book in advance.
Each member will require a ticket, so please ensure you purchase the correct quantity of tickets for those visiting including children.
You’ll also need to show your membership card on arrival.
Not a member yet? You can still sign up to become a member at the Georgian House. Please ask a member of staff for more information.
One-adult family: £12.50
Guidebook: £5.00 (pre-order below and collect on arrival at the property)
Before you travel
Please note that if you or anyone in your group has any symptoms of COVID-19 – including a temperature, a new and persistent cough, or a loss of taste or smell – then please follow NHS guidance and stay at home.
We welcome visitors of all ages to the Georgian House. An activity guide and flashcards can be collected from the Welcome Desk – please ask a member of staff. We require the pencils and clipboards to be returned at the end of your visit and we will quarantine them before re-use. We have temporarily removed the dressing-up costumes and children’s activities in our activity room – we hope to bring these back once it is safe to do so.
Access to the property: We have limited access for wheelchair users – there are six stone stairs into the building, and stairs up to the first and second floors and down to the basement. We do not have a lift. Please contact us before booking if you would require assistance or further information. For visitors not wishing to climb stairs, the introductory film and an armchair guide are available on a tablet at the reception desk.
During your visit
Once at the property, please look out for signage and follow directions given by our staff and volunteers. Please observe social distancing from other households and staff, and wear a face covering unless you are exempt. There will be hand sanitising stations for you to use at the property. We ask that you use the sanitiser provided at the start and end of your visit. You are, of course, welcome to use as much as you like in between!
We have two visitors’ toilets located on the second floor. These toilets will be cleaned regularly by staff during the day.
Our shop will be open, but there will be a number of safety measures in place. Please ensure that you wear a mask whilst in the shop and maintain a safe distance from others.
All card and contactless payments will be welcome, but we are unable to accept cash at this time.
Our team will be working very hard to make you feel safe. We’re looking forward to welcoming you back to the Georgian House!
