Castle Concert Series 2017: Kimberley Boyle – Flute, Nils Klöfver - Guitar & Jenny Svenberg-Bunnel - Artist
The Boyle Klöfver Duo returns to Fyvie Castle again this year, following two hugely successful concerts during the 2015 & 2016 festival. This season's concert will feature a vibrant new programme of music, showcasing a diverse selection of classical music from around the globe; taking you on a journey through the history of Astor Piazzolla’s Argentinian tango to Béla Bartók's Romanian Folk Dances and back to Scotland in their very own arrangements of much-loved Scottish folk tunes. In addition, this year's Castle Concert Series explores a new dimension, as the fascinating worlds of music and art come together. Following an exciting collaboration with guitarist Nils, the duo will be joined by the wonderful Swedish artist Jenny Svenberg-Bunnel, whose live drawings will develop as the concerts unfold. Both art forms are inspired and nurtured by each other and these live concert drawings together with a selection of Jenny's other works will be exhibited at the venue throughout the day. The unique ambience of Fyvie Castle's beautiful music room, with music exquisitely performed by Nils and Kimberley - all captured as it happens in Jenny's drawings, promises to be an evening to remember.
BOYLE KLÖFVER DUO The Boyle Klöfver Duo is a dynamic and innovative flute and guitar ensemble. Formed in their student days at London’s Royal College of Music, Scottish flautist Kimberley Boyle and Swedish guitarist Nils Klöfver began performing together in 2009, giving concerts throughout the UK and abroad. Collaboratively, they have appeared in major London venues including The Wigmore Hall, St. John Smith Square, The Houses of Parliament, Downing Street, The Royal Gallery, Shakespeare's Globe, Kew Gardens, Leighton House Museum and the 20th Century Theatre, Notting Hill. The duo established the Castle Concert Series in 2014; an annual tour taking music around the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. In 2016, the series commissioned a new composition entitled Passing Seasons, by the prolific and multi award-winning Scottish composer Eddie McGuire, with the Boyle Klöfver Duo giving the world premier performance. Passing Seasons is the title track of the duo's brand new album which will be available for purchase at the concert.
